The Olympus E-420 is a small but powerful digital-SLR that features “intelligent” technologies including Scene Selector Modes for accommodating different lighting conditions and background; Face Detection Technology for dramatic portraits; Shadow Adjustment for lightening underexposed areas in a photo; and 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD that supports high color contrast for better viewing.
The Olympus E-420 is one of the smallest digital-SLR models in the market today but still manages to offer impressive image technologies including the Digital Image Stabilization that supports noise-free images even if the subject is moving fast or the user’s hands are shaking.
The SLR, which measures 5.1 x 3.6 x 2.1-inch and weighs 13.4 ounce, boasts an ergonomically designed chassis, allowing for a comfortable grip. Despite its size, the SLR features “intelligent” technologies including the Face Detection that recognizes up to eight faces and adjusts the camera setting that will result to dramatic portraits.
Another “intelligent” technology of this 10-megapixel SLR camera is the Shadow Adjustment which automatically lightens underexposed areas and shadows without affecting the bright areas.
Meanwhile, the most notable feature is the dust reduction system called Supersonic Wave Filter, (located between the image sensor and shutter) that automatically vibrates 35,000 times per second after shooting a picture which prevents dust buildup.
Just like most digital-SLRs, this Olympus model has an LCD screen (2.7-inch HyperCrystal panel in diagonal measurement) that features a special panel that improves the color contrast for a broad range of detail and better view in low-light or bright environment.
To assist novice users in taking dramatic photos, the E-420 camera has Scene Select Modes that allow them to select the right mode for a certain shot. The SLR has 18 modes including portrait, sports, sunset, landscape, firework, to accommodate every lighting condition and background.
With a 3.5 frames per second burst rate, this camera can capture sequential shots which means that photographers will not miss any important scene.
