Olympus D460 Zoom Digital Camera
A Point-and-shoot Camera by Olympus
For those who are looking for a cheap digital camera, the Olympus D-460 definitely comes at a lower price compared to most high-end digital models. However, users should realize that this point-and-shoot camera has limited features (because it was introduced way back in 2000) such as the 1.3-megapixle resolution and 3 times magnification.
The Olympus D-460 is a point-and-shoot camera that features 1.3-megpixel resolution for 1280 x 960 shots, a huge downside especially when today’s most compact digital cameras offer 10-megapixel resolution or even higher.
In terms of magnification, it offers a mere 3 times optical zoom equipped with autofocus. While this may appear incomparable compared to high-end digital cameras, the D-460 may be considered sufficient for average users.
For consumers who are thinking to buy this camera, they should consider that D-460 was first introduced way back in 2000—the time when most compact cameras use disposable batteries and not the rechargeable ones. However, this Olympus model is at least compatible with AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (but this is not included and people should buy these separately).
Despite some of its limitation, the camera has spot metering option that allows users to capture “acceptable” photos in poor lighting condition and the Panorama Mode for taking multiple images and arrange these into tiles.
This camera is also compatible with either P-300 or P-330 Olympus Photo Printers, allowing users to directly print their photos without using a computer or laptop.
Other features are built-in flash with six operating modes, LCD viewfinders, macro focusing up to 8-inch, ½ to 1/1000 second shutter speed, five white balance setting options, exposure mode, 2 times digital telephoto, built-in flash, four record modes, SmartMedia image storage, and 8MB memory card for storing photo files.
