The Nikon D80 (approximately priced at $900) is a digital SLR that features 10.2-megapixel resolution to support vibrant colors and well-detailed lines, thus resulting to real-life images. Another impressive feature is the digital programs for a dramatic theme such as portrait, macro, landscape, night landscape, close-up, and night landscape.
The Nikon D80 is a 10.2-megapixel digital SLR that features 12-bit image processing engine that supports vibrant colors and sharp lines, thus resulting to real-life images. This technology is complemented with Image Optimization Mode that allows photographers to improve a picture’s color contrast.
With Image Optimization Mode, users can also adjust the camera to different settings including softer, vivid, more vivid, normal, black and white, portrait, and custom. With this feature, photographers will have more options of dramatic themes.
In terms of responsiveness, the digital SLR has 80ms shutter release time and 0.18 seconds of power-up time. The camera can also shoot up to 3 frames per second or up to 100 consecutive images in JPEG format. This capability is made possible by D80’s high-speed memory card complemented with large bus bandwidth.
Another impressive feature is the long battery life which can shoot up to 2,700 pictures before running out of power. This capability is supported by energy-efficient electronic parts complemented with rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
The SLR camera also boasts several editing tools including image overlay, red-eye correction, image trimming, sepia, custom color filter effects, monochrome black and white, and D-lighting. With these features, photographers can make improvements directly on their cameras.
Just like any digital-SLR, the D80 has an LCD colored monitor (2.5-inch) which supports 170-degree wide-angle viewing, thus allowing users to see perfect photo clarity from different angles.
Other features are: 3D Color Matrix Metering II which evaluates color contrast and brightness; wide-area AF option for capturing sports and fast-moving subjects; and digital programs that includes close-up, macro, landscape, night landscape, auto portrait, and night portrait.
