The 8-megapixel Canon s5is compact camera has 12x Optical zoom lens which offer long reach with its 432 mm length. Canon s5is camera, which was first launched in 2007, is a model from the PowerShot series which has been widely-recognized for being the pioneer of consumer digital camera.
The 8-megapixel compact camera has 12x Optical zoom lens which offer long reach with its 432 mm length. But despite its long reach, the lens has its downside: its 36 mm equiv does not support wider picture.
Another downside of this camera is its lack of RAW format support.
To provide great photos, the Canon s5is features intelligent image technologies including Face Detection that automatically recognizes and captures faces; Image Stabilization which prevents blurry images which are caused by unstable hands or fast-moving subjects; and Red-eye removal that corrects the color of the eye (red-eye happens when a person looks directly into the camera and its light bounce back).
To allow users to take pictures even in low-light environment, the camera features sensitivity range of ISO 80-1600 and multiple shooting modes to accommodate different lighting conditions.
One of its most notable features of this camera is the movie support including dedicated button and a recording capability of 30fps frame rate. Other features that will allow users to capture great VGA videos are: Ultra-Sonic Motor for responsive video zooming; Ultra-low Dispersion that makes the color sharper and more vivid; and Optical Image Stabilizer and faster shutter speed to prevent blurry videos.
